Serie A star to finally give Harry Kane some competition?

According to Italian news outlet CalcioMercato, Tottenham are interested in signing Fiorentina forward Giovanni Simeone in the January window.

Since the academy star cemented himself as the clubs’ first choice striker, Tottenham’s attempts to give Harry Kane competition have proven frivolous; with Roberto Soldado, Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente all failing to impress.

£36M rated Giovanni Simeone, the son of Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, is one reported target. Whilst Spurs haven’t traditionally spent big in January, the lack of summer activity may prove to be a catalyst for some significant outlay in January. Tottenham’s acquisition of Lucas Moura for £25M from PSG in the previous January transfer may have also set a precedent for investment during this window.

Though Giovanni Simeone is obviously known due to his father, is he actually any good and should Spurs fans be getting excited over the prospect of a move for him? We take a look at how he compares with Harry Kane and other top Premier League strikers below.
