This is the 4th time the two sides have met in the Premier League, Spurs remain unbeaten with two wins and a draw. They last met back in October and shared a 0-0 at the Vitality Stadium. Both teams hit the woodwork but neither team could make a breakthrough, this game would be the last time Spurs fans would see Erik Lamela play in 2016-17 season. The draw was the third in a row for Spurs who eventually went four games without a win. Bournemouth find themselves currently in 15th position in the league, seven points clear of the relegation zone. They have two wins, two draws and a loss in their last five games. Spurs are on a six-game winning streak and are aiming to stay unbeaten at White Hart Lane. They will be looking to equal a 98-year-old record of games (12) won in a row at home. Spurs are currently seven points behind leaders Chelsea, they will be hoping to put the pressure on and take advantage of playing first this weekend.
Bournemouth like to line up in a 4-4-1-1 formation, they like to keep possession and use short passes, they have a good record of coming back from losing positons. They have an in-form striker in Joshua King who has scored 10 goals in 2017, only Kane and Lukaku have scored more. Defence has been their problem all season, they have conceded 3 or more goals on eleven occasions this season. Bournemouth have kept just 8 clean sheets, they concede on average 14.3 shots per game - that’s the sixth worse in the league. Spurs have returned to the 4-2-3-1 formation in their last two fixtures, if Wanyama fails to recover from his back-injury Eric Dier is more than competent when returning to his position in midfield. Spurs have managed an excellent blend of defence and attack this season, they have conceded just 22 goals this season the best in the league. They have scored 64 goals this season the third best in the league, they also have three players in double figures for league goals.
Bournemouth lost 3-1 at home to Chelsea in their last game, they found themselves 2-0 down inside 20 minutes and were never able to recover. Joshua King was on the score sheet in the defeat and will hope to continue his current good form. Spurs won 4-0 at home to Watford, goals from Dele Alli, Eric Dier and a brace from Son completed a dominant performance. It took Son’s tally to 11 league goals in 27 appearances, which is much improved from his 1st season at Spurs when he had 4 goals in 28 appearances. This was the 11th time Spurs had scored 3 or more goals in a game this season, in three games against Bournemouth they have scored 8 goals and conceded just once. This was their 20th win of the campaign and they are on course to have their best winning season, as their current record is 21 wins in a single Premier League campaign.
