Spurs began the year with a home game against Leicester City on the 5th. For the second time in consecutive games, Spurs were held to a 4-4 draw having been in front. Spurs fielded an attacking side that was too quick for the visitors' defence taking an early lead when a Reynolds cross was turned in by a defender. They added to that goal with another raid down the left that was pulled back for Markanday to score. A solo effort by Richards made it three, but Leicester pulled two goals back to end the half in contention. The foxes tightened up in the second allowing only a spectacular goal from Patterson to go in. They then pressed Spurs, scoring twice at the end of the half to share the points.

With changes from the Youth Cup at Bournemouth Spurs still had a strong attack with Griffiths leading the line. Richards got the opening goal from a pullback by Patterson. Patterson got the second from a free kick after the seagulls had equalized but went in at the break 2-2. Spurs took the game with a three-goal burst in the second half. Griffiths was played in by Patterson for Spurs third and then he collected a poor backpass for the fourth. Patterson got the fifth when the keeper could not hold Griffiths shot. Patterson completed his hattrick with a repeat of his second as the keeper spilled Griffiths effort after Brighton had pulled a goal back and missed a couple of chances.

Spurs had a home tie against northern league leaders Liverpool on the 10th. Thanks to Liverpool playing open football, Spurs won 4-0. It was a close game with the reds hitting the woodwork twice and missing a sitter. Skipp set up the first goal for top scorer Griffiths late in the first half. The game was taken away from the visitors, who had not lost a game this season, with two goals from Richards. The first came when he charged down the keepers kick and the second came six minutes later scored inside the near post. With Spurs looking to see out the game they broke through Hinds down the right and converted by Markanday in the last minute. Spurs are the first team into the semi-finals.

FA Youth Cup
Spurs travelled to Bournemouth on the 16th for this fourth round tie. They came away with a 3-0 win which could easily have been greater as they had so much control of the game. It took awhile to break down the Bournemouth resistance getting the opening goal at the end of the first half. A Patterson cross was turned in at the far post by Griffiths. Griffiths got the second early in the second when no-one except him reacted to his flicked header and he had a simple job beating the keeper. Maghoma hit the woodwork with a free kick and Oakley-Boothe had an effort cleared off the line before Clarke got the third in added time after the keeper had saved Maghoma's initial shot.

The first game of the month was to be a trip to high flying Leicester City on the 3rd. The game had been moved because of the FA Cup. It did not go well for Spurs who started well taking the lead when Bennetts made a good run off the right wing to fire in. Once Leicester equalised they began to get on top. It took the sending off of Marsh for them to take the lead and when Skipp also went the floodgates opened as the hosts ran out 6-1 winners. Leicester were the stronger team but Spurs were holding their own until the sending off. Skipp's red card was later rescinded.

Spurs improved in the second and took the lead. Pritchard made a run from right back into the centre of the away half before playing the ball to Roles who struck a well placed low drive into the corner. Unfortunately, Everton raised their game in search of a goal getting two in eight minutes. Roles had another effort cleared off the line but Spurs lost 2-1.

The last game of the month was a trip to Manchester United on the 29th. Spurs had not won there before so it was pleasing to see Spurs win 3-1. As both sides were bottom of the league the first half was very poor. Spurs won a penalty but Sterling's kick was poor. Things improved in the second half. United went ahead after Whiteman had made a save and released the ball to Skipp. He gave the ball away for them to score. Spurs were soon level when Bennetts tucked away a loose ball in the home area. Roles chased down a backpass to block the keepers' kick and saw it go into the net. Spurs were now passing the ball well and Roles played in Sterling for the third. Spurs winless run ended and they move off the bottom and a point behind Sunderland.

Spurs' last group game against Benfica was supposed to have been at Stevenage on the 24th. But was moved to Hotspur Way on the 25th due to bad weather on the night. This was a competitive game from the start and ended 3-3. Spurs had more of the possession but went behind before equalising before halftime. A long ball by Walkes was won by Tracey who exchanged passes with Harrison to get through to score. They went behind again straight from the restart but got two quick goals. Skipp sent Tracey down the right and his pull-back was converted by Roles. Roles then got around the back on the left and when his cross was parried by the keeper and cleared off the line Walkes fired home. Spurs then tried to hold on to the lead but after Benfica equalised they had to hold out for the draw. The result meant that Spurs failed to progress to the next round.
