Spurs' only game this month before the Christmas break was a London derby with Chelsea on the 9th at Hotspur Way. It turned out to be a high scoring 4-4 draw. Spurs looked to have the game won at halftime leading 3-1. In an open game Spurs took the lead from the penalty spot after Griffiths was fouled. The striker scored himself and Eyoma got the second heading in from a corner. Chelsea pulled a goal back but Lloyd-Bennett whipping in a dangerous cross that was headed in by a blues defender. That included another penalty before a last minute equaliser.

Griffiths fed Richards in the area who turned and fired low into the net. Lloyd-Bennett got the second driving in a cross from Clarke outside the far post. Spurs entered the Cup at the third round stage with a home tie against Preston North End on the 12th. It was supposed to be played at Stevenage but due to the weather it was moved to Hotspur Way and played on the first team training pitch which had undersoil heating. Spurs took a while to overcome their lower league opponents taking the lead from a good cross by Lloyd-Bennett that Maghoma hit into the top corner. Maghoma hit the bar before Richards made it 2-0 turning in Griffiths near post ball before halftime. Patterson got the third just after halftime when the ball ran loose from Griffiths. Richards got two more to complete his hat trick turning in a Lloyd-Bennett ball on the line and driving in from a Markanday pass. The 5-0 win sets them up for the next rounds trip to Bournemouth.

UEFA Champions U-19 League
Spurs last group game saw APOEL visit Hotspur Way on the 6th and a chance to revenge the only loss Spurs suffered in this seasons campaign. They did that with a 4-1 win on a cold afternoon getting on top of their visitors from the start and going into the break 3-0 ahead. The opening goal came from Griffiths set up by Roles – who plays for Cyprus. The second was a typical Edwards run from the left and the third was scored by Tanganga at a corner from Shashoua. Griffiths had also hit a post. APOEL opened the game up in the second half but should have gone further behind when Roles won a penalty but Edwards hit the bar from the spot. APOEL then scored before Richards got the fourth in his first appearance.

Spurs go into the last 16 to be played in February.
The first game of the month was to be a trip to West Ham on the 11th. But it was postponed due to the weather so the game at Stevenage on the 19th against Sunderland was the only match played. This turned out to be a bit of a non-event as the Wearsiders came not to lose. They defended strongly almost man for man not letting Spurs room to move. There was hardly any chances in the first half but changes in the second starting with Shashoua allowed Spurs to get through and it was almost a siege in the last period on the visitors goal. Chances from Georgiou and Harrison could not beat the keeper so the game finished 0-0.
Team(4-3-3) – Austin, Marsh, C. Maghoma, Eyoma, Georgiou, Pritchard(Roles 81), Skipp, Amos(C), Harrison, Sterling(S. Shashoua 62), Tracey(Bennetts 79).
Unused Subs – Whiteman, Brown.
Booked – Georgiou 89, Harrison 90+4.
