This is the 50th Premier League game between Tottenham and Chelsea, which is the first fixture to be played that many times. Spurs will be looking for only their 5th win against them, but are undefeated since 2012 at White Hart Lane. Chelsea are on a 13-game winning streak and find themselves six points clear at the top of the table. Chelsea have scored 92 times against Spurs which is more than any other opponent. Harry Kane will be looking to continue his excellent record in London derbies, he has netted 17 goals in his last 17 including 10 in his last 9 played at home. The teams met six weeks ago, with Chelsea coming out on top with a 2-1 win. Spurs had taken the lead through Christian Eriksen and dominated much of the 1st half. Chelsea equalised through Pedro right on half time, and six minutes after the re-start they took the lead through Victor Moses. Spurs were unable to get back in the game and left disappointed at a notoriously difficult place for Spurs to get points.
Chelsea line up in a 3-4-3 and have a consistent first 11 that Conte likes to use, they like to keep possession and use short passing. They can also counter attack teams and most likely will use this tactic against Spurs. They have a strong defensive unit, conceding only 13 goals and keeping 11 clean sheets. They have no problem scoring goals either as they average 2.21 goals a game, and have the league’s top scorer in Diego Costa with 14 goals. Spurs have gone between a back four and a back three and they may continue to use the latter for this game. In their last game, they lined up in 3-1-4-2 which could work well against Chelsea. Spurs have the third highest possession average with 57.1% they will hope to continue this statistic and keep the ball away from Chelsea. Spurs average the most shots per game in the Premier League with 18.6, with 6.4 on target again the highest in the league.
Spurs win against Watford made it four wins in a row and back to back 4-1 away wins. Harry Kane and Dele Alli with two goals each made it a comfortable afternoon as Spurs dominated in all the aspects of the game. The win took Spurs into 4th in the table on 39 points ten points behind Chelsea. Dele Alli has scored 5 goals in his last 3 Premier League fixtures and in his 51 Premier League appearances he has 18 goals and 10 assists, which is an impressive return from the 20-year-old. Chelsea won 4-2 against Stoke at home with goals from Gary Cahill, Willian and Diego Costa. This win qualed Arsenal’s record for the most successive victories within the same season. Diego Costa in his 72 Premier League appearances has 46 goals and 14 assists, with a shooting accuracy of 46%.
