Spurs’ first game of the month was on the 10th when they visited Reading. Spurs pressed from the start but were caught on the break to go a goal down. Roles equalised when put through by Skipp. Reading won a penalty which was converted and then went further behind before halftime. Spurs got a penalty themselves early in the second when Griffiths was brought down. Oteh scored from the spot and then Griffiths scored himself after a good run to make it 3-3. Reading got the winner from a free kick headed in at the far post after the same player had had one cleared off the line. Spurs went all out for another goal but Reading held out to take the points.

Tottenham's second game of the month was at home to Norwich City. It was an entertaining game that ended 2-2 with Spurs having the better of the game. They fell behind for less than a minute in the first half before Spurs equalised when Debutant full-back Lock put in a low cross that the keeper failed to hold and Oteh had a simple tap-in. Spurs took the lead in the second half and should have got more hitting the bar but Norwich got a point with the best goal of the game. Norwich defended well, putting bodies in the way, but Spurs should have won.

Spurs' last game of the month was away at Swansea on the 24th. Swansea took an early lead when Austin was caught in possession with the ball rebounding into the goal. They made it 2-0 when Mukena was also caught out. Spurs upped their game with Roles scoring twice to gain a draw. The first came when he was found unmarked at the far post by Tsaroulla. The second when Tsaroulla's cross was laid back by Oteh. Tsaroulla almost gave away a penalty in the second half and was then refused one after being pushed over at the other end. But Roles was the main talking point when his niggling almost started a brawl.

UEFA Youth League
This runs alongside the Champions League so on the 14th we played the AS Monaco U-19 side. Because Spurs normally play at U-18 level the squad for this league is made up of U-18 and those that have just moved up to the U-23 in the last year. This was not a good start as the visitors are top of their league with a settled squad. They scored early on the break as Spurs tried to put them under pressure. Spurs were level when Griffiths found Shashoua to curl the ball into the far corner. But playing on the break Monaco were ahead again before the break. They increased their lead after the hour mark before Spurs got a second from the penalty spot after Edwards was fouled. Harrison found the corner from the spot. Monaco dropped deep and looked to see out the game. While Spurs struggled to break them down they could have had more goals before the end.

The second game was away to CSKA Moscow on the 27th. On an artificial pitch during a chilly afternoon which saw both sides take a while to settle. Griffiths proved a handful to the home defence in a first half that saw Roles shot saved and Moscow hit the bar. Spurs went in front when Griffiths finished off good work by Edwards. Moscow scored twice just after the hour to take the lead. Both sides went close to scoring before Griffiths got his and Spurs second in the 90th minute from a Tracey cross. Moscow snatched the winner three minutes into added time to leave Spurs bottom of the group without a point.

Spurs travelled to Chelsea on the 9th and matched the home side in a tight first half but conceded three goals in a 20 min. spell that began with the awarding of a penalty that was converted. With Spurs looking for an equaliser Pritchard was caught in possession and they scored despite Glover saving the first attempt. Spurs reshuffled their defence but conceded a third. In the last minute Spurs won a penalty when Edwards was pulled back in the area. Harrison made no mistake from the spot with the last kick of the game.

Spurs second match was Liverpool at Stevenage on the 19th. Spurs were hit for six by a rampant Liverpool side that took no prisoners. They were three down inside ten minutes and before the break, Spurs did not have a shot until almost halftime. They rejigged for the second half and were better with Edwards pulling one back with a dribble into the area. Liverpool added another two late in the half before an Edwards dribble won a penalty that was converted by Loft with the last kick of the game for a 6-2 defeat. The reds picked up five bookings for the pressure they put Spurs under protecting their back line.

Spurs last match of the month was on Friday 23rd at Southampton. This turned out to be an open end to end game with Spurs having the better of the game until the saints scored. The second half was just as even and when Walker-Peters was ruffed up causing a big scuffle a player on either side picked up second yellows reducing both sides to ten. Spurs pushed for a goal but Southampton held on to their 1-0 lead to take the points.
